OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

COMMANDERS CORNER

Dear American Legion Family Members and Friends,

My name is David Dadich, and I am the new Post Commander for The Dallastown American Legion Post 605. I consider Post 605 to be my home away from home and I want to thank all of you that support our Legion, our community, our Youth, and especially our Veterans and their Families.  The Legion family includes Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion, and Riders. We also have social membership availability, so swing on by and stop in to see where your eligibility lies. Although we are all separate departments working independently, we often join forces for events, celebrations, activities, and community projects.

My first official duty as your inbound Commander is to thank our outgoing Commander, Brandon Wiley for his service and commitment over the past 2 years – thank you Brandon! A job very well done!  As your new Commander, I am honored to be elected to serve our Post by those who have gone before.  Their diligence and hard work have made Dallastown Post 605 a home for many of us for the past 102 years. With your help, we will continue serving our Veterans, their families, our community, and our youth.

Today, there are 12,112 American Legion Posts across the globe, where members preserve the memories of those who have fallen. They lead Memorial Day commemorations, carry out Honor Guard duties, lay out flags and wreaths, serve our local communities, provide scholarships, and many more activities throughout the year.  Please come out and support our Legion whenever possible, whether volunteering for events, coming in for dinner, participating in Post activities, or supporting one of our special events.

Please remember that at whatever level of participation - we value your membership, whether you are a Legionnaire, Auxiliary, Son of the American Legion, or an American Legion Rider! We are one big family, so thank you to ALL of our entities and what you do for all of us.  Have an idea? Please come to a meeting and let us know your thoughts!

SAL 605 NEWS LETTER FOR 4th QUARTER 2023

Cool nights are coming. Get those backyard fire pits going! Welcome to fall! As always, the Consolidation

Squadron Report (CSR) is extremely important to our organization since hours and donations get

reported to Congress and this is how Veterans programs are funded. Therefore if you’re helping a

veteran or someone in our community with their lawn work or picking up prescriptions, grocery

shopping, taking them to doctor’s appointments, etc., make sure you fill out a Consolidation activity slip

at our meetings so that can be added to next year’s Consolidation Report in June of 2024.

Membership renewals are due NOW. Our dues remain at $35 for 2023-2024. I’d sure like to see our 401

members pay before December, so this doesn’t become a job for some of us.

The SAL is continuing to sell superior looking tee shirts for $20 as a fund raiser. A shirt is hanging in the

Canteen for viewing. Only 6 medium, 5 large, 9 2XL and 1 4XL are left. No more will be ordered. If you

want to purchase a shirt, text Jerry Stenclik at 717-887-5315 with your name and size. You can also

reach out to any SAL officer.

During our next meeting on Thursday, Oct 5 th @ 6pm, we will be organizing our Holiday meat raffle.
Staytuned for details.

I would like to see more members attend our meeting and get involved with our activities. Learn about

our incentive program. Help our veterans and our community. Our meetings are the 1 st Thursday of

every month at 6 pm. For the rest of 2023 they are Oct 5 th , Nov 2 nd and Dec 7th. In 2024 they are Jan 4 th ,

Feb 1 st , Mar 7 th , Apr 4 th , May 2 nd and June 6th. And enjoy a lite meal with all afterwards.

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 605 2023 Appreciation Banquet is Saturday Jan 27 th at

Southern Area Fire Hall. A flyer was mailed to all SAL members. Each SAL member must have their 2024

membership card to get in the door and may bring one guest. RSVP are due by Dec 6 th , 2023 to Tyler

Boyce: post605sal@outlook.com or 717-825-3225.

There will be lots of cash raffles which will benefit Commander Jerry’s wish: York County Veterans Outreach. So bring your cash!
It’s for a great cause. (This is why it’s important to pay your membership before December.

We’ll make sure we keep our bulletin board and TV monitors up to date with all our events.

If you have any questions, please reach out to one of the officers:

Get involved!
